Carsington Water – Squad Camping Trip

13th – 15th September 2011 (Derbyshire)

My squad and I along with 5 of their pet dogs drove to a campsite in Derbyshire after swim session on Tuesday evening. When we arrived we put up our tents and started the BBQ. It was a nice relaxed evening, although it was very windy. Luckily we had put the tents up well, and pegged them down tight, as we were still there in the morning!

Post World Championships Time Off - Around the World

1st August – 23rd August 2011

Here is a quick overview of what I did in my 3 week break after the World Championships in China. Where I won GOLD in the 50m Backstroke and retained my World title which I won two years previous in the Rome 2009.

Shanghai is a cool city during the day, but even better by night, as the whole skyline is lit up. I also managed to have dinner at some really nice restaurants around the city and visit the tallest building in China. Then it was time to fly back to London on my first ever first class flight, it was amazing.

Shanghai is my 4th World Championships. My 1st being in Montreal, Canada in 2005 followed by Melbourne Australia in 2007 and then Rome Italy in 2009. It’s always an amazing feeling representing Great Britain at an International competition. Travelling with the team to compete against the best swimmers in the world is something I look forward to and thrive off.
