| Carsington Water – Squad Camping Trip |
|
13th – 15th September 2011 (Derbyshire)
My squad and I along with 5 of their pet dogs drove to a campsite in Derbyshire after swim session on Tuesday evening. When we arrived we put up our tents and started the BBQ. It was a nice relaxed evening, although it was very windy. Luckily we had put the tents up well, and pegged them down tight, as we were still there in the morning!
We actually started early in the mornings with a dog walk, followed by a circuit in the campsite, which included, Running, Sit Ups, Star Jumps, Press ups, Med Balls and a Worlds Strongest man style car push up a hill.
During the two days we did lots of different activities including, Running, Rock Climbing, Cycling around the reservoir, and some more team activities, such as Raft Building and Canoeing.
The canoeing part was great fun and a definite highlight of mine. We all started with a gentle paddle in the reservoir, then the pace picked up a little before we were all going at it full pelt. It then progressed into a game of ‘Hit or Tag’ with a ball, and finally it ended up with us just dunking each other in the water. It was so much fun!
We were also lucky enough to have the support of Debbie Davenport (Ross Davenports mum) as she came to the campsite each evening with enough food to feed the 10,000! It was amazing, and well needed after the hard day of training.
Before we knew it the camping trip was over. It was a really great couple of days and we all had a lot of fun but also worked really hard.
Then it was back to Loughborough for some more conventional swim training. |
